Compassionate Counselling to Support you through Life's Challenges

At Small Steps Counselling, I offer personalised counselling support to help you navigate through difficult times and create positive change in your life.

The Weight of Daily Struggles

Life doesn't always follow the path we expect. Sometimes we find ourselves feeling overwhelmed, stuck or struggling to cope with changes or challenges that seem constant or insurmountable. Whether you're dealing with issues such as anxiety, stress, depression, loss or trauma, these experiences can leave you feeling stuck, disconnected or unsure about your path forward. The weight of carrying these challenges alone can be exhausting.

I get it. And I'm here to help.

Why Counselling Matters

Seeking support isn't about weakness or inability – it's about recognising you have a knowledge and skills gap and reaching out to someone with that experience.

Counselling provides a space where you can:

  • Process difficult experiences and emotions

  • Understand yourself more deeply

  • Develop better coping strategies

  • Build resilience for life's challenges

  • Create meaningful change in your life

Sometimes we just need someone - completely independent of us - to walk alongside us as we navigate these challenges.

That's where I come in.

A Genuine Space for Growth

At Small Steps Counselling, we focus on what matters to you. Whether you're navigating anxiety, processing grief, battling stress, managing unexpected life changes or working through past trauma, this is a space where you can explore your experiences without fear, criticism or judgment.

Counselling isn't about fixing something that's broken - It's about understanding yourself better, properly processing your experiences and creating the life you want to live.

Counselling helps us recognise ourselves more deeply. It's a chance to regain power over our adverse experiences, unpack our unhelpful patterns and habits and develop greater emotional intelligence.

And let's be real here – this depth of understanding benefits not just us, but everyone we interact with, both personally and professionally.

Your Journey to Wellbeing

No matter where you are in your journey right now, taking the step to seek support shows courage, hope and commitment to your mental and emotional health. It's good to remember that change and healing aren't a linear process - the path to positive change can look different for everyone.

Whatever brings you to counselling, we'll create a supportive space where you can explore, heal and grow in your own way and in your own time.

I'm here to support your individual journey, helping you build the tools and understanding you need to move forward with confidence.

Ready to take the next step?

Taking the first step towards change can feel daunting, but you've already shown your courage by even considering counselling. If you're ready to make meaningful changes in your life, to understand yourself better and to develop new ways of managing life's challenges, let's work together. Take that next brave step - book your Intake Counselling Session today and begin your journey towards positive change.

I'm here to support you every step of the way.

Client Stories...

(For privacy and confidentiality reasons - names, ages and client stories are fictionalised examples of real cases)

Client - "Emma, 29 yrs"

Background: Emma is a secondary school teacher who has been working in a high-pressure, low socio-economic school environment for the past seven years. She has always been a high achiever and feels a strong sense of responsibility towards her students. Emma currently lives alone and enjoys activities like reading and hiking, but her busy schedule often leaves little time for herself.

Current Situation: Over the past year, Emma has noticed increasing levels of stress and emotional exhaustion. She feels overwhelmed by the demands of her job and often works late into the evening. Emma has begun experiencing physical symptoms like headaches, disrupted sleep and tension in her shoulders. She’s also noticed she’s become more irritable and is quick to tears, both at work and in her personal life. Emma is worried she’s heading toward burnout but feels guilty about the idea of stepping back or asking for help.

Goals for Counselling: Emma sought support to understand her stress response and develop strategies to better manage her workload, without compromising her wellbeing. She wanted to explore ways to set boundaries, prioritise self-care and relaxation and address her feelings of guilt when taking time for herself. Emma was also interested in learning how to recognise the early signs of burnout and build resilience to prevent it from happening again.
