Intake Counselling Session - All New Clients
Counselling Session
1-to-1, Adult Clients, Virtual Session (online portal)
1 hr I $140 I Telehealth Session
Service Description
First and foremost, this session is all about you. We'll start by discussing your reasons for seeking counselling and what you hope to achieve through our work together. This is an opportunity for you to share your thoughts, feelings and concerns in an empathetic, understanding, safe and confidential space.
I'll also provide you with some information about the counselling process and what you can expect from our sessions. We'll discuss practical matters such as scheduling, fees, confidentiality and consent to ensure you feel comfortable and informed.
Throughout the session, I'll take the time to get to know you better, asking questions to gain a deeper understanding of your unique experiences and needs. Together, we'll collaboratively explore your goals and develop a personalised counselling plan that suits your individual goals, needs and circumstances.
By the end of the intake session, my hope is that you'll feel empowered and supported to continue taking steps towards positive change that enables you to learn, grow and thrive.
Whether you have been referred by somebody to my services OR you have found your way here by yourself, you are welcome here and this counselling service is appropriate for you.
Sessions are available Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday - morning, daytime and evening appointments. If this availability does not suit you, please contact me to request an alternate time and I will see if I can accommodate that request; kristy@smallstepscounselling.com.au
Counselling Speciality: I have experience working 1-to-1 with adult clients experiencing trauma or trauma-related concerns such as stress, anxiety, overwhelm, burnout, low mood or depression, gender / sexuality / identity exploration, grief and/or loss - lived experience or vicarious. When working with clients experiencing these concerns, I work from a wellness-oriented Integrative therapeutic approach (multiple therapeutic styles), as well as incorporating psychoeducation (information) and somatic (body related) elements, as appropriate, to assist my clients with feeling more at ease in their mind and as well as their body (i.e. free from tension, dysregulation). In our first session or two, we'll identify which therapies and techniques will be best for your situation.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are a new client to my counselling service, please either book into an Intake Counselling Session or contact me with any questions you may have; kristy@smallstepscounselling.com.au
Counselling Session - Ongoing Clients
Counselling Session
1-to-1, Adult Clients, Virtual Session (online portal)
1 hr I $140 I Telehealth Session
Service Description
Your ongoing counselling sessions are a continuation of the work we've begun together — a journey toward greater self-awareness, resilience and wellbeing, both personal and professional.
Each session is an opportunity for us to delve deeper into the issues you're facing, explore new insights, identify habits or patterns that may need altering and to develop suitable practical strategies to help you navigate any future challenges. You'll have the space to express yourself freely, knowing that you're in a safe and supportive environment.
We'll work together to address the issues that are important to you, using a combination of therapeutic techniques tailored to your individual needs. Whether we're exploring past experiences, working through current concerns, developing coping skills or setting goals for your future, your sessions will be focused on helping you move forward in a positive, productive direction.
Throughout our work together, I'll be here to provide guidance, support and encouragement - every step of the way. I'll actively listen to your concerns and offer insights and perspectives to help you gain clarity and insight.
Between sessions, I encourage you to reflect on our discussions and practice any skills or techniques we've discussed. Your active participation in the counselling process will enable you to make meaningful progress and achieve lasting change.
Remember, counselling is a journey, and progress may not always be linear (straight-forward). Sometimes we may need to go backwards in order to move forwards. But with consistency, persistence and support, you have the agency to create positive change in your life. I'm here to walk beside you, recognising your successes and supporting you through any setbacks you may encounter.
Sessions are available Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday - morning, daytime and evening appointments. If this availability does not suit you, please contact me to request an alternate time and I will see if I can accommodate that request; kristy@smallstepscounselling.com.au
Supervision Services...
Clinical Supervision - For Student & Graduate Therapists
Supervision Session / Telehealth
1-to-1, Online Session, Counselling Students & Newly Graduated Counsellors
45 minutes I $90 I Telehealth Session
Service Description
Clinical Supervision provides a space for student and newly graduated counsellors to pause, reflect and make sense of the experiences that come with learning to become a counsellor. Whether you're completing placement or finding your feet after graduating, supervision offers the opportunity to talk through what's going well, what's feeling challenging and the moments that leave you questioning yourself long after the session has ended.
It's completely normal to feel uncertain at times, especially early in your career. You might wonder whether you responded well to a client, feel unsure about an ethical dilemma or notice that something from a session has stayed with you. Supervision provides a supportive space to make sense of those experiences, explore different perspectives, and gradually build confidence in both your clinical judgement and your self.
My approach to supervision is collaborative, reflective and encouraging. I'm not here to tell you how I would work with your clients or to have all the answers. Instead, my role is to help you make sense of what you're noticing, think things through and develop the confidence to make informed, ethical decisions that feel right for you.
Along the way, we'll also make space to check in on how you're travelling, because looking after yourself is just as important as developing your counselling skills.
